ESGM Hybrid Courses The European School of Genetic Medicine (ESGM) will be offering its courses using web casting technology, from its main training centre in Bertinoro di Romagna, Italy. These virtual courses will be offered at ESGM-authorised remote training centres (RTC) all over the world. The Laboratory of Molecular Genetics, Department of Physiology and Biochemistry, University of Malta and Division of Pathology, Department of Health is an authorised RTC through its participation in the project entitled "Euro-Mediterranean Cancer Prevention and Genetic Medicine Network" funded through the EUMEDIS project and with partial support of the National Student Travel Foundation, under the direction of Professor Alex Felice. At each RTC, ESGM lectures will be shown and discussion sessions and workshops organised by RTC faculty will follow. Questions will be collected and emailed to ESGM faculty at the main site and answers will be broadcasted live to the remote sites.

The first in the series of courses being offered is entitled ëThe 18th Course in Medical Geneticsí and is being web cast from the 15 to 21 May 2005, at the Gateway Building, University of Malta. There is no registration fee and a certificate of attendance will be issued from the ESGM. CPD accreditation is being requested from the Maltese Colleges. Those interested to attend are requested to register online at the EGF web site (www.eurogene.org) and to contact the Malta Coordinator, Dr Isabella Borg, at iborg01@um.edu.mt by not later than 12 May. Numbers will be limited, so applications will be on a first come first served basis.
