Objectives

The III Mediterranean University Forum aims at promoting debate and reflection on European integration, the construction of the image of Europe in the Mediterranean, the Euro-Mediterranean relationships and the building process of the image of the Mediterranean area in the world.

As a continuation of the I and II Forum, the III Mediterranean University Forum will gather around 35 rectors and experts from universities all over the Mediterranean and more than 150 people will attend the event.

The main objective of the Forum is to create a common platform for the discussion of the Euro-Mediterranean issues through an academic approach. The debate will focus on three main themes:

• The Mediterranean: a joint north-south professional challenge
• European Integration in the educational field
• The European educational programmes and the Mediterranean (Erasmus Mundus and Tempus).

The Activity

• Partial financing (35%) for the activity has been received through the EU Jean Monnet Project Action.
• Organisation by the University of Malta with the support of the Universitat Rovira I Virgili, Spain, hosts of the I and II Forums and other members of the Academic Committee including the Universita’ degli Studi di Urbini Carlo Bo, Italy, the Universite’ Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, the Institut Catholique de Paris, France, the Universitat de Lleida, Spain and the Universitat de Valencia, Spain.
