Seminar on the Effects of Pre- and Probiotics on Intestinal Microflora The Institute of Agriculture, University of Malta is organsing a seminar on 22 March 2005 at 1400hrs on 'The Effects of Pre- and Probiotics on Intestinal Microflora Prof. Bruno Biavati of the University of Bologna will be delivering a seminar at the Insitute of Agriculture.

Prof. Bruno Biavati is a full professor at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, University of Bologna. He is currently the President of the Italian Society of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Microbiology, Deputy chairman of the Department of Agroenvironmental Sciences and Technologies (University of Bologna), Deputy chairman of the Subcommittee of Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus and related organisms, and a member of the Subcommittee of Taxonomy of Methanobacteria and the American Society for Microbiology.

He has participated in more than 150 publications, books and communications on Bacterial Taxonomy describing 23 new species, on microbial ecology of human and animal intestinal tract and more recently on the use of probiotics and natural substances with antimicrobial activity. He has been involved in teaching activities under the Socrates program at various faculties of agriculture, biotechnology, science, and veterinary, in a number of countries under the Socrates program.
