Conferment of the Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) on Dr Klaus Töpfer
The Chancellor, Professor John Rizzo Naudi recently presided over the Convocation for the Conferment of the Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) on Dr Klaus Töpfer, Executive Director, UNEP at the M.A. Vassalli Lecture Centre, University of Malta. Present at the ceremony were the Rector, Professor Roger Ellul-Micallef, the Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr Lawrence Gonzi, the Minister of Education, Youth and Employment, the Hon. Dr Louis Galea and members of the academic body. Professor Alfred Vella, Dean of the Faculty of Science gave the Oration.
A group of musicians, led by the well-known percussionist, Renzo Spiteri, gave a brief but spirited concert of music played on recycled material which was much appreciated by Dr Töpfer and the members of the audience.
