Scerri Hector, ed., Living Theology. Studies on Karl Rahner, Yves Congar, Bernard Lonergan and Hans Urs von Balthasar, Libreria Editrice Vaticana, Vatican City, 2007, ISBN 88-209-7847-4, pp 291
Much has been written, especially in the last twenty-five years, about Karl Rahner, Yves Congar, Bernard Lonergan and Hans Urs von Balthasar. Furthermore, many conferences have been organised by prestigious institutions in 2004 and 2005 on the centenary of their birth. The novelty of the book lies in that it explores specific and varied themes which spring forth from the precious contribution of these four eclectic personalities to twentieth-century theology. The research carried out by the authors is relevant to contemporary theological reflection and touches upon pivotal themes such as salvific truth, ecumenical relations, the
sacraments and pneumatology.
The authors of the articles are Hector Scerri, Edward G. Farrugia, Fernando Millan Romeral, Jose' Carlos Carvalho, Mark Sultana, Peter Serracino Inglott, Salvino Caruana, Mario Farrugia, Stefan Attard, Frans Previ and Frank Bajada. Cardinal Walter Kasper, on the book: "I trust that the publication will
provide a valuable contribution to schlarly research".
