University of Malta appoints new Group Chief Executive Officer to lead its Group of Companies Josef N. Grech has been appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of the University’s group of companies which include, amongst others, Malta University Services Ltd, University Catering Services Ltd, University Broadcasting Services Ltd and Surface Engineering Ltd.
The University of Malta is currently restructuring its group of companies and a dynamic and entrepreneurial team is being constituted to take up this challenging role and, together with the new Group CEO, lead the companies successfully through the coming years.
Mr Grech graduated in pharmacy from the University of Malta in 1988 and continued his studies at the University of Sydney, Australia, where he obtained his Masters degree in pharmaceutical chemistry. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Henley) and has held various senior managerial posts, both in the public and private sectors. Mr Grech has been responsible for a number of start-up operations, particularly in the laboratory and pharmaceutical API sector, and has experience in organization building and restructuring and in the implementation of ISO 17025 and 9001 standards. Mr Grech has worked on various projects with international organisations and with United Nations institutions such as the International.Atomic.Energy.Agency.
Mr Grech is also serving the function of Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation of International Studies with the aim to rationalise resources for growth and develop synergistic links between the commercial elements of the University Companies and the strengthening of the international and academic dimension of the Foundation of International Studies.
The new Group CEO and management team are based and operate from the original Old University Building in St. Paul’s Street, Valletta.
