The June Issue of the Malta Medical Journal The June issue of the Malta Medical Journal has been recently published and distributed. The editorial deals with the need of evolution in medical education. The journal deals with various important socio-medical issues including a review of child abuse in Malta and a study assessing the prevalence of dementia on the\ Islands. Clinical articles include an audit of routine investigation carried out in paediatric acute admissions; the laboratory surveillance of communicable diseases caused by enteric pathogens; a study reviewing the hand and wrist configurations in patients with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome; and a review of the therapeutic options for treating coeliac disease. The clinical practice contribution deals with the treatment of insomnia in general practice. Historical contributions include articles relating the development of the stethoscope and another describing the 1680 reforms in the Holy Infirmary.
