8th July – Walter u l-Hbieb An event not to be missed is the performance by Walter Micallef who will present a truly captivating performance on the 8th July 2007.

Walter Micallef is one of Malta's leading singer songwriters who over the past 30 years has written several original songs in Maltese, in a style that is both fresh and varied. As described in a recent review, "Walter offers the listener his musings about love, insecurity, and even his pet cat, but there are heavier themes too. These are largely related to social issues and injustices, translated through various styles that stretch from clear-cut Blues to Bossa Nova and a subtle rock veneer by way of his acoustic blueprint." (Michael Bugeja, The Malta Independent: April 2007)

Mr. Micallef’s music is augmented by a five-piece band with locally established names including Renzo Spiteri (drums and percussion), Jes Psaila (acoustic, semi-acoustic and electric guitar), Albert Garzia (piano and accordion), Eric Wadge (bass) and Pawlu Camilleri l-Bibi (harmonica). Together with his band, Mr. Micallef has recently recorded and released his second album entitled "Hamsin" that is “remarkable for the versatility with which the Maltese language is moulded.” (Sandra Aquilina, The Malta Independent on Sunday: April 2007)

Together with his band, Walter has recently released his second album entitled "Hamsin" that "reveals a new line-up and a fresh, contemporary interpretation of folk music." (Michael Bugeja, The Malta Independent: April 2007)
