Dr Anne Marie Thake is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy, University of Malta. She is an expert in human resources and public policy specialising in employability, labour markets and Governance.

Dr Thake graduated with a Ph.D. in Social and Policy Sciences from the University of Bath, U.K. with a thesis on Graduate Employability Skills. She has an M.Sc. in Human Resource Development from the Victoria University of Manchester, U.K. and a B.A.(Hons.). in Public Administration from the University of Malta.

Dr Thake was appointed Head of the Department of Public Policy in 2017 and is a visiting Lecturer at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, the University of California, Irvine, U.S.A. She has authored/co-authored articles in peer-reviewed international journals with a publication on Graduate Employability Skills. Dr Thake has been influential in her senior roles in both private and public sectors - the Office of the Prime Minister of Malta, Bank of Valletta and Deloitte.

Dr Thake drafted Malta's HR Policy and Strategy. She was appointed on the Commission for Human Resource Policy and Strategy for Malta, Post-Secondary & Tertiary Education Government Funding, Commonwealth and Fellowships Board and the Scholarships Board.

Dr Thake worked with the European Parliament - Directorate General for Research, Luxembourg. She is a Salzburg Global Fellow related to talent and skills. In 2021, she was awarded a scholarship to attend a Study of the U.S. Institutes for Scholars (SUSI) program at the University of Montana, Missoula.

Dr Thake is participating in EU funded Cost Action programmes namely Public Argumentation and Public Policy Analysis; Intergovernmental Coordination from Local to European Governance and historic and contemporary female labour mobility. She attended two Trento and Copenhagen Training schools which focused on rhetorical roots of argumentation - A legal experience; Deliberation, dissent, norms of argumentative engagement.

Dr Thake is a principal supervisor to master and undergraduate students and coordinates Public Policy programmes at the University of Malta. She is responsible for student placements for the Department and coordinates Public Policy study visits to EU Institutions.
