John Xerri de Caro graduated as a physiotherapist in 1998 from the University of Malta. In 2003, he obtained a M.Sc. in Sports Injuries and Therapy from the Manchester Metropolitan University. He was conferred the PhD from Sheffield Hallam University in 2014 with a thesis titled 'The Bologna Process and Physiotherapy education across Europe'.
He lectures within the Physiotherapy Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Malta. He is a member on the Board of Studies and the Board of Examiners for the Physiotherapy undergraduate programme. His current duties also include Coordinator for Practice Education.
On a part-time basis he manages his own private practice. He regularly participates and leads Quality Assurance programmes including accreditation, and evaluation of physiotherapy study programmes in Universities.
Current main hobbies (2023): waterpolo, tennis and swimming
Dr. Xerri de Caro is the elected European Executive Board Member of World Physiotherapy (www.world.physio) since 2014/5 and has occupied various posts including Chair of the Accreditation Committee and member of the Finance Committee.
In 2013 he was awarded the MAP Award by the Malta Association of Physiotherapists for his contribution to the Physiotherapy Profession.
