Dr Sebastiano D’Amico and Ms Daniela Farrugia (Department of Geosciences) have participated in theAmerican Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting held in San Francisco (USA) from 10th to 15th December2016. It is the largest Earth and space science meeting in the world with approximately 24,000attendees. Dr. D’Amico chaired a special session titled “Capturing the complexity of site effects”together with three colleagues from Italy, New Zeland and Switzerland. Furthermore, Ms Farrugia andDr D’Amico presented three papers titled “Using ambient noise for investigating cultural heritage sitesand evaluating seismic site response”, “Ambient vibration technique to explore mud volcanoesstructure”, and “Modelling of earthquake ground response in the Maltese islands using results fromgeophysical investigations” with details on recent research activities conducted by the SeismicMonitoring and Research Group (SMRG).
