DESCRIPTION The course offers skills training in a number of skills covered in SWP2611 Helping Skills for Social Workers which is a prerequisite for SWP3611. The session format will be groups therefore offering students the opportunity to practice and receive feedback on each skill that is presented. Moreover, the training is supplemented with additional practice through role-play. The role playing sessions are video taped are then used for further feedback and learning. The skills are discussed within the theoretical framework studied in SWP 2611.
This study-unit is a prerequisite for SWP 4311 Practical Placement B.

Course Objectives:

To provide training in the basic helping skills required for social work practice.
To enable students to practice basic helping skills.
