Smart Card

The Smart Card is available only to students in receipt of a stipend and is intended to partly cover expenses related to educational material and equipment. It is only available to students who are eligible for a stipend.

 

Amounts Credited to Smart Card

The amounts transferred in students' Smart Card varies according to the course [PDF] and year of study.

"Normal" Degree Courses and Diploma Courses:

 

  • First Year Students receive:

A one-time grant of €465.87, and a sum of €465.87 per academic year to partly cover expenses related to educational material and equipment.

  • Second to Fifth Year Students receive:
A sum of €465.87 per academic year to partly cover expenses related to educational material and equipment.


 "Prescribed" Degree Courses

  • First Year Students receive:

A one-time grant of €698.81, and a sum of €698.81 per academic year to partly cover expenses related to educational material and equipment.

  • Second to Fifth Year Students receive:

A sum of €698.81 per academic year to partly cover expenses related to educational material and equipment.


Ordering a New Smart Card

Students may order a new smart card by sending an email, including their ID card number, to the Stipends Office. (This option is only available to students who are attending University.)



Blocking a Lost Smart Card

Students may block their lost Smart Card by either sending an sms along with ID card number and the word 'lost' to 79766667, or by emailing the Stipends Office (latter option is only available to students who are attending University.) along with their ID card number. Students should note that by blocking the Smart Card, they are not automatically applying for a new one.



Checking the Smart Card's Balance

Students may check their Smart Card balance by logging to SMGB online.



Buying Books from Online Sites

Students may order books online, pay through their visa and get a refund from their smart card. To get a refund one must contact Mr Mario Bugeja who is in charge of such matters. Mr Bugeja can be contacted at the KSU Office every Tuesday from 0900hrs till 1200hrs.

The Smart Card will be inactive as from July 15th up to the first week of October.
Deadline for Amendments for Student Details
Students are reminded that any changes related to one's stipend will take affect until 03 May 2013.
Eighth Stipend
The eighth stipend for the academic year 2012/13 will be issued on the 17 June.
Supplementary Grant Forms
Applications for the Supplementary Grant are currently closed.
Smart Card Refunds
Smart card refunds may be obtained from the KSU every Tuesday morning as from November 2012.
