SHORT COURSES
PROGRAMME
The Foundation for
International Studies (FIS) offers courses for foreign students who wish
to obtain study-abroad experience by following a course in Malta.

The Foundation organizes a variety of short courses (normally of one
week duration) all year round, for small classes of foreign students.
The subjects of the courses on offer relate to culture, business
studies, computing, environmental studies and other subjects, such as
law and health (click here to view
the prospectus). The courses are offered subject to there being a
sufficient number of participants.
Admissions to the Course
Applications for all
courses will be considered from persons who are 18 years and
over and are suitably qualified to follow the course with profit.
All courses are offered in the English language.

Certification
Participants who regularly attend
the course sessions will be awarded a certificate of attendance by the
Foundation for International Studies of the University of Malta.
Students may opt to sit for a written test at the end of a course, and
successful candidates will be awarded a certificate of successful
completion. These tests are optional and offered at the discretion of
the Foundation for International Studies.
Field Trips and Excursions
Some of the
courses, particularly those related to cultural aspects, will be
accompanied by field trips and excursions as part of a course or as part
of the social programme.
Social Programme
A social programme, including
group lunches, receptions and excursions are usually organized for
course participants. These offer entertainment to students and help them
get to know each.
Course Fees
The fees for courses offered
in 2005 and 2006 (see prospectus)
are (a) EUR350 excluding hotel accommodation and (b) EUR600 including
hotel:
(a) EUR 350 covering :
- course tuition and documentation
- transfers from and to Malta International Airport
- transport from and to the hotel to the workshop venue
- welcome reception
- refreshments during coffee breaks
- excursion with guide
* The fee for courses requiring computer laboratory facilities will be EUR 420.
(b) EUR 600 covering:
All the above plus hotel
accommodation 3-star or better for 7 nights on half board (breakfast
plus one meal) basis.
