CUSTOMISED COURSES FOR OVERSEAS UNIVERSITIES

    The Foundation for International Studies organizes programmes in  'Maltese History, Religions of the Mediterranean and Global Issues', for Luther College (Iowa, USA); 'Health and Energy Technology' for James Madison University (Virginia, USA); International Law for South Texas College of Law; Legal English for the Consiglio Nazionale Forense and Archaeology and Mediterranean Culture for Australians Studying Abroad.     Courses on other subjects can be offered on request, in line with the needs of the visiting institution 

    Faculty 
    The Faculty of these customised courses can be provided by the University of Malta or by the visiting institution or a combination of both, depending on the subject. 

    Indicative Duration of Courses and Contact Hours
    The following are some possibilities regarding the duration of courses: 

    • 1-week course with 20 to 30 contact hours 
    • 2-week course  with 36 to 60 contact hours 
    • 4-week course with 72 to 120 contact hours 
    • 14-week course (1 semester) with about 240 contact hours 


    Accreditation 
    The courses are generally accredited by the visiting institutions, as an integral part of a degree course, as an optional study unit, or as stand-alone course. However, in some cases, the Foundation for International Studies issues certificates to those students who successfully complete the courses. 

    Field Trips and Excursions 
    Field trips and excursions can be organized as part of a course or as part of the social programme. 

    Social Programme 
    A social programme, including group lunches or dinners, receptions and excursions are usually organized for course participants. These offer entertainment to students, help them get to know each other better and to interact with Maltese students. 

    Travel to Mediterranean Destinations 
    During some courses (especially the 4 week and 14 week courses), trips to Mediterranean destinations can be organised. These trips offer a cultural experience to students and in some cases, can help students to obtain material for their assignments. 

    Course Fees 
    The course fees will be negotiated with the visiting institution on a case by case basis.
