Today’s rapid development in health care constantly confronts professionals with new ethical and legal challenges. Thus, health care today demands an increased bioethical competence. Due to the necessity of an interdisciplinary approach to issues of contemporary health care, the Professional Ethics Programme within the Faculty of Theology is offering a Master of Arts in Bioethics with the aim of establishing bioethics as an independent field of research and education. The present programme of studies will make a significant contribution to the formation of professionals enabling them to face the contemporary bioethical challenges.
Intended Learning Outcomes
This programme of studies aims:
- to increase reflection on the theoretical foundations of bioethics
- to focus on the ethics and philosophy of health care
- to enhance capacity-building in ethical decision-making
- to encourage research in the area of bioethics
- to educate professionals in health care ethics.

Exit AwardsThose who opt not to continue for an MA will be awarded a:
- Postgraduate Certificate in Bioethics after one year of study
