Between 1972 and 1975 Salvino Caruana OSA read for his Bachelor’s degree in Sacred Theology at the AUGUSTINIAN UNIVERSITY in Rome. In 1978 Fr Caruana read for the Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) in History at the University of Malta. In 1979 he read for his Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) certificate at the New University of Malta, and between 1979 and 1982, he was teaching various subjects at St Augustine's College Pieta'. In 1982 Fr Caruana was appointed Headmaster of the same College which he directed up to 1988. Between 1988 and 1991 he read for his Licentiate in Sacred Theology, and the Diploma in Patristic Studies at the AUGUSTINIAN UNIVERISTY in Rome. In 1991 Fr Caruana commenced his lecturing activity at the Faculty of Theology, and in the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Malta. In 1998 Fr Caruana obtained his Doctorate in Sacred Theology with a thesis summa cum laude on The Ethical Implications of Christian Life in St. Augustine's DE SERMONE DOMINI IN MONTE. In 2002 Fr Caruana was appointed Senior Lecturer in the Department of Patrology, Faculty of Theology. Fr Salvino Caruana has also directed the AUGUSTINIAN INSTITUTE. Centre For Augustinian Studies and Research – Pieta’, for these last ten years, and has since also headed a committee for the translation of some of the more renowned works of St Augustine into Maltese.
