
Rev. Dr. Emanuel P. Magro read Library and Information Science at The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., U.S.A. in 1986-7. This study was made possible through a scholarship awarded to him by the German-Austrian Bishops’ Conference (Europäischer Hilsfond). After completing successfully this Master’s Degree programme (M.S.L.S.), Fr. Magro read a M.A. in Religion and Religious Education at the same institution in 1988 and immediately afterwards went for a Ph.D. in the same area at the same university graduating in 2000. To read his degrees in Religion and Religious Education The Catholic University of America awarded Fr. Magro two scholarships (John R. Hodnett Graduate Scholarship for full tuition for the M.A. and Miss Emily Harper Graduate Scholarship for the partial tuition for the Ph.D.) and a research assistantship to the Dean of the School of Religious Studies (full tuition and stipend for Ph.D.). While researching and writing his dissertation he taught at The Catholic University of America (1991-1993), St. Mary’s Seminary and University of Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A. (1994), as well as at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., U.S.A. (1995-1997). He worked as a senior subject cataloguer in the Religion, Philosophy and Psychology Team, Social Sciences Cataloging Division at the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C., U.S.A. (1998-2001). In 2001 Fr. Magro assumed the leadership of a medium size secondary school for boys, Sacred Heart Minor Seminary, in Victoria, Gozo. During his headship he was a visiting lecturer of Religious Education at the University of Malta. In October 2006 he was appointed lecturer of Catechesis and Religious Education, a dual appointment at the Faculty of Theology and at the Faculty of Education at the University of Malta. Since 1988 Fr. Magro is a member of the Beta Phi Mu – International Library Science Honor Society.
