Department of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Malta has a long and distinguished history that traces its origins to the first University in Malta. Over the years, it has committed itself to an ongoing dialogue with the various traditions and movements of philosophy. The department offers its students a wide spectrum of courses at undergraduate level and a research program at postgraduate level.

Students who take up philosophy as a General or Honors degree will profit in both their thinking and writing skills. It is the nature of philosophy to encourage critical reflection on a broad range of issues, ranging from the traditional subjects of metaphysics and epistemology to the more contemporary subjects, such as culture studies and business ethics.
