DESCRIPTION Theological reflection invites believers to explore the mystery of the Trinity, and proceeds to delve into the mystery of the Incarnate Word and to enter into questions regarding the identity of Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of Man, the “one mediator between God and men” (1 Tim 2,5). Christians, throughout the ages, have reflected on this great mystery, namely, that for the salvation of the world, the Son of God, while remaining fully divine, became truly and fully human. The christological question was a focal point of debate in the early Church. The basic New Testament presentations regarding the person of Jesus Christ are fundamental, as are the mainfacets of the earliest debates on the Messiah.
