DESCRIPTION This dissertation for the attainment of the Licentiate in Pastoral Theology will address an aspect of pastoral ministry. It should reflect the student's ability to think critically and focus clearly on an area of pastoral concern, utilising research methodology and pastoral resources. It will eventually provide students with the strong foundation necessary to be able to conduct their own academic research. In conjunction with this study-unit, in their first year, students will follow a dissertation seminar to become acquainted with basic research methods in the field of pastoral studies, especially in the preparation of the dissertation.

Learning Objectives:

On completion of their dissertation, students will be competent in the execution of pastoral theological research, the application of appropriate methodologies and in one’s reflection of the area of study chosen.

ADDITIONAL NOTES **September Assessment Session: Students who fail to obtain an overall pass mark will be re-examined in the Dissertation. However, the resit availability for the Oral Examination is at the discretion of the Board of Examiners.
