The 25th edition of the Gozo Observer has just been published and once again contains a number of interesting articles relating to Gozo.

Professor Patrick Schembri describes three species of shore crabs found in some areas of Gozo in his article, ‘Three Crabs, and a Gozo Connection’, while in Dr Alan Deidun’s article, ‘Managing Gozo’s Marine Protected Areas’, the importance of managing MPAs in Gozo, such as Dwejra, is highlighted.

In his article, ‘Geological and Geomorphological Aspects of the Żebbuġ and Marsalforn Region’, George Said describes the rock formations of various areas around this region while Fr Geoffrey G. Attard writes about the history of Victoria, Gozo in his article, ‘Victoria: 125 Years of City Status 1887 – 10 June 2012’.

Godwin Vella gives an account of the earthquake which shook the Maltese islands in 1693 in his article, ‘The Frightening Tremors of January 1693’, while in the article, ‘Why ‘Lace Studies at Academic Level’, Consiglia Azzopardi gives an insight into the importance of preserving the art of Maltese lace making.

In his article, ‘25th Edition of the Gozo Observer’, Professor Lino Briguglio presents a list of all the articles which have appeared in the Gozo Observer since its inception in May 1999. In the final article, Joseph Calleja, the Gozo Campus Administrator, gives a summary of the extra-curricular activites held at the Gozo Campus between July and December 2011.
