We are celebrating our 250th anniversary since the foundation of our Alma Mater. A number of events will be held to commemorate this important milestone.
From Friday 27 September to Wednesday 23 October 2019
A Nation of Achievers
An Exhibition commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the Foundation of the University of Malta (1769 - 2019)
at the University of Malta Valletta Campus
The objects forming part of the exhibition consist primarily of scrolls – many of which have never previously been publicly exhibited and some being held in private collections – awarded to University graduates and spanning across three centuries. Some of the scrolls belonged to illustrious personalities, such as Themistocles Zammit and Sir Ugo Mifsud and others to lesser-known personalities, but whose scrolls constitute veritable works of art. The academic, but also the aesthetic is thus being celebrated. Other artefacts, such as the University mace and the campus plan emphasise the reality of a venerable institution with an ever-dynamic forward-looking vision.
The exhibition is curated by Prof. William Zammit.
