There are various support structures in place at University aimed at helping students with problems. These structures have been set up for a number of years and information about them can be found on the University website. A student with a problem can refer to one of the structures below depending on the nature of their problem.

Students Advisory Services (SAS)

Students who have problems related to the course they are following can make use of the services of the SAS. The office operates in close liaison with the Admissions and Records Office and the other offices of the Registrar. Kunsill Studenti Universitarji (KSU)

KSU's Education Office is at the forefront of student's complaint handling. Students may contact KSU by email should they require advice or for KSU to possibly deal with a complaint. The complaint form is available online. If students do not provide any information for KSU to establish a contact, feedback in such cases will be very limited.

ACCESS – Disability Support Unit (ADSU)

Students experiencing problems due to physical, emotional or cognitive problems can seek help from this unit which works closely with the Access Disability Support Committee. If more information is required click here or contact Ms Marchita Mangiafico on +356 2340 2557 or by email.

Counselling Services

Personal counselling is provided for students experiencing problems of a more personal nature. Appointments can be made with the Unit by phoning the Intake Officer Ms Lorleen Farrugia on +356 2340 2235 or send an email. For more information click here.


The Chaplaincy offers the services of both lay pastoral assistants as well as priests should students be experiencing problems of a spiritual or existential nature. More information can be obtained from here or by phoning the Chaplain on +356 2340 2341.

Students' Charter Committee

The  brief  of  the  Students’  Charter  Committee  is  to  safeguard  the  rights  of  the student and to make students more aware of their responsibilities. KSU members sit on this committee. Sexual Harassment Committee

Students who are experiencing sexual harassment, be it verbal or physical can seek help form the Sexual Harassment Committee. One can obtain more information by accessing the website.

Office of the Registrar 

Senior staff within the Office of the Registrar provide support to students in the academic area. They also follow students with personal and family problems and when necessary refer to the Counselling Services Unit. Students may contact:
  • Mr Colin Borg on +356 2340 2109 or send an email
    Mr Borg deals with eSIMS-related enquiries and other general queries. He also provides support to doctoral applicants and students.
  • Ms Carmen Mangion on +356 2340 3736 or send an email
    Ms Mangion deals with reports on students referred to the University Assessment Disciplinary Board, the Committee of Discipline and the Commissioner for Education. She also provides support to students with personal and family problems. Ms Mangion is the liaison officer with KSU.
  • Mr Luigi Pellegrini on +356 2340 3101 or send an email
    Mr Pellegrini deals with queries regarding examinations and he is the direct point of reference for Gozitan students when choosing their preferred examination location between Malta and Gozo. He also deals with requests from students and students’ organisations to book venues for meetings and other activities. 
  • Ing. Elisa Vella on +356 2340 2848 or send an email
    Ing. Vella is a member on the ACCESS Disability Support Committee which processes requests for access arrangements and on the Senate Sub-Committee for the Recognition of Student Societies. She also deals with queries from visiting students and guides students with regard to interpretation of regulations.

Pro-Rector's Office

Should students have problems which cannot be dealt with by professionals working in these support they are welcome to contact the Pro-Rector for Students & Staff Affairs and Outreach. To make an appointment please contact Ms Annelise Calleja on +356 2340 3401 or send an email.

Commissioner for Education 

Students who, after trying to resolve their complaint with the University authorities, and who still feel that they have not been treated fairly, can lodge a formal complaint in writing by means of a letter or by filling a Complaint Form and address it to the
