Students are asked to give a presentation of a certain length in the French language before their colleagues.

Study-Unit Aims:

The study-unit will make it possible for a student to comprehend a conversation in academic French. This unit trains the student to develop a clear elocution in order to make himself understood in the French language.

This study-unit encourages the student to read about current affairs in France either by consulting magazines and newspapers or by browsing French electronic media. Writing in French is an important component of the unit. Lecturer has to take special care to correct the grammar of material produced by student. The unit shows the student not to be vague when writing but rather to use names of well-known contemporary French personalities and also French place names.

Learning outcomes

Students will be more prepared to join a conversation in the French language. They will be aware of the importance of correct pronunciation. They will be able to prepare a presentation, that is, they will be able to make a speech of some length in the French language before their colleagues.

Students will try to master the art of writing in coherent French and which is fit for research at university. They will learn how, with patience and with a lot of effort, they will write idiomatic French. Students will be better acquainted with French personalities of today and with place names because the language is used in a socio-cultural context.
