DESCRIPTION This study unit will cover the aspects of transport movement with specific reference to movement of people. Topics covered by this study unit include the development of transport networks, public and private transport modes, modal split and impacts of transport (with reference to land transport and movement of people).

Study-unit Aims

- to provide students with basic knowledge of transport networks and land transport concepts
- to learn the processes affecting the transport of people
- to explain the effects of transport of people

Learning Outcomes

1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- list and describe the factors influencing the movement of people
- explain the behaviour affecting transport of people
- describe the impacts of transport of people

2. Skills (including transferable [generic] skills): By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- assess mobility patterns of people
- identify factors and impacts of transport (with specific reference to land transport of people)
