| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit introduces students to conversational medical Maltese focusing on the areas of basic anatomical terminology, doctor/patient communication, interpreting symptoms, interacting in a medical Maltese setting. Throughout the study-unit, students will have the opportunity to extend their communication skills with the use of case studies, role-play and following medical conversations. Study-unit Aims: The aim of the study-unit is to enable students to communicate verbally in Maltese in a healthcare setting. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Converse using basic healthcare vocabulary in a medical setting; - Understand patients' medical history and symptoms. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to acquire a fair command of elementary Maltese, be familiar with basic medical vocabulary, and be able to apply these skills with patients and medical colleagues.
