Conservation of the Nymphaeum, Argotti Botanical Garden, Floriana

The 18th century domed structure of the Nymphaeum (Argotti Botanical Gardens, Florianais a significant part of the Maltese cultural heritage. With its lavish mosaic made of corals, seashells and calcite crystals, it is absolutely unique to the Maltese Islands. 

The Department has been and is involved in the conservation of the Nymphaeum and its mosaics. The challenging conservation project involves the expertise of the departmental staff and different professionals in Malta and abroad, as well as the  MSc students.
