1st Conference on Education for Sustainable Development in Malta

At the end of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (UNDESD), the Centre for Environmental Education and Research (CEER) will be organizing a conference with the primary objective of creating a forum in which to share local experiences, practice and research on education for sustainable development (ESD). 
 
In addition, the Conference seeks to:

· Strengthen the networking between different institutions working in the fields of EE, ESD and related educations.

· Discuss post UNDESD strategies to policies on ESD.

· Identify current challenges (in ESD promotion) and seek strategies to address them.

· Celebrate CEER’s work and showcase research in ESD carried out through the Centre

· Provide a position paper about ESD promotion for local policy makers.

· The focus of the 1st National ESD conference will be Maltese Islands within a Euro-Med and global context.

The conference is intended for: students, lecturers, teachers, senior management, head teachers, education department personnel, policy makers, curriculum development specialists, CSOs and NGOs, local councils, practitioners in the field of environment and sustainable development and the general public that shares the broad aims of the conference.  

The First Malta National ESD Conference will be held on the 20 and 21 February 2015 at the Aula Magna, University of Malta Valletta Campus.

WORLD SYMPOSIUM ON LIFE LONG LEARNING AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
The World Symposium is being jointly organised by the University of Malta, Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany), and the Inter-University Sustainable Development Research Programme (IUSDRP), in cooperation with various UN bodies, government offices and authorities, universities, enterprises, NGOs and grassroots organisations from across the world between 2-4 March 2017.
