As of 2 October 2017, the University of Malta has introduced a new logo together with a new typography of L-Università ta' Malta. In addition, the abbreviated form will be referred to as UM.
The logo for L-Università ta' Malta has undergone a significant change despite its main characteristics being inspired from Grand Master Pinto’s coat of arms. The new visual identity seeks to satisfy all of the existing expectations of what the original crest stands for, but at the same time moves the brand identity forward. Following a public call, a design company was commissioned to assist in the branding assignment and a number of meetings were also held with internal stakeholders to elicit feedback on the new logo.
