Chinese Cuisine Activity

Some members of the Confucius Institute at the University of Malta hosted a Chinese cooking and food tasting activity.

The guests saluted the host by introducing themselves in Chinese and reciting a Chinese song. The host inaugurated the activity with a common staple food, known as “jiǎozi” or Chinese dumpling, in China. During the activity, guests tried their hands at dumpling dough-making and wrapper-shaping, sampling the session at wrapper-making.

After “Jiaozi” making, the guests were presented with an array of Chinese dishes.  They enjoyed savouring Chinese cuisine and heartily enquired about the recipes, to try them back home.

To celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival, the host offered a “zòngzi” to the guests and narrated the mythical story of Qu Yuan and the origins of “zòngzi”.

The activity was colourful and vivid, enlivening and intriguing the members present about the Chinese culture.
