Applicants must be in possession of:

  1. a Bachelor degree with a strong ICT component obtained with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division) and comprising 180 ECTS credits or more or
  2. a Bachelor degree with a strong ICT component obtained with at least Second Class Honours and comprising 180 ECTS credits, together with a Postgraduate Diploma in an ICT related discipline or
  3. the degree of Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) ֠B.Eng.(Hons) - with at least Second Class Honours in an ICT related area of study.

The admission of applicants may be made conditional on the results of an interview conducted for the purpose.

Applications for our February and October intakes have been officially open since the third week in November. You can submit your application online. The deadlines for submission of applications vary according to the intake and courses. We encourage all international applicants to submit their applications as soon as possible. This is especially important if you require a visa to travel and eventually stay in Malta.

The intention of this course is to instil scientific rigour in the endeavour to propose improvement in the area of specialisation. This course will acquaint you with skills pertaining to dissertation preparation and presentation methodology. In particular, you will acquire skills in the research, augmentation, evaluation, presentation, defence and scientific procedure of the selected field. The presentation shall consist of your appraisal of a subject area related to that of the dissertation. The Course shall be offered in areas of study in ICT where the Faculty can offer expert guidance and supervision. You will be required to write a dissertation of 80 ECTS credits with a maximum of 35,000 words. If you are interested in pursuing an M.Sc. by Research with the Faculty of ICT, you are to consult with academic staff members of the departments before submitting your application and research proposal.

You will be required to write a dissertation in one of the areas listed to which 80 ECTS credits are assigned, and shall consist of a maximum of 35,000 words, as directed by the Board on registration.

If you are an applicant who is interested in pursuing an M.Sc. by Research with the Faculty of ICT, then you are to consult with academic staff members of the departments before submitting your application and research proposal. Applications received without such a proposal will not be accepted. If required, this process may be coordinated by contacting the Dean or one of the Heads of Department.

*Students are required to register for this study-unit or another study-unit as directed by the Board.
** Work on the disseration is expected to start in Semester 1 of academic year 2023/24 and continue up to the end of Summer Semester of academic year 2023/24.

This programme of study is governed by the General Regulations for University Postgraduate Awards, 2021 and by the Bye-Laws for the award of the Degree of Master of Science ­- M.Sc. - under the auspices of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology.
