A foundation course at the University of Malta’s International School for Foundation Studies is a one-year, pre-tertiary study programme specifically tailored for students wishing to enroll for an undergraduate study course but do not meet the necessary direct entry requirements. Students who complete the study programme successfully are then guaranteed a place in a number of undergraduate degree courses in business and commerce at the University of Malta.

The study programmes are designed to bridge the gap between a high school learning environment and the demands of an undergraduate course. The programme presents a comprehensive introduction to discipline-specific academic English language skills and terminology, study skills, and the fundamental concepts in the study of accounts and economics in a learner-centred environment designed to promote the learner’s autonomy through task-based learning, interactive learning, self-access, and small-group contact time for learning support. The programme is also designed to introduce learners to a thriving multicultural community of students and promotes a learning environment that is diverse and inclusive.

The Business Studies study programme will provide learning in the core academic English language skills, accounts, economics, psychology, communications, research and critical thinking skills.
