DESCRIPTION This is a basic study-unit in the art of painting. The emphasis will be on painting with acrylics, oil on canvas and watercolour. The study-unit will focus on still-life and landscape on location. Various techniques will be addressed.

Students have to get their own material.

Study-unit Aims:

The aim of this study-unit is to introduce to the craft and practice of painting. Basic knowledge and on-spot painting is intended to increase the students' awareness of the craft and so as to be able to link his theoretical studies with the practical side of the subject.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

The study-unit is directed towards a systematic practical understanding of what is painting. At the end of the study-unit the student will be in a better position to understand and critically analyse the relationship between art and practice.

2. Skills:

The unit gives the student the necessary basic practical introductory skills to appreciate and evaluate the meaning of creativity in the form of painting.
