| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit is suitable for students who have completed Chinese Language 1 and 2, or who have the equivalent knowledge of these study-units. This study-unit is designed to consolidate overall listening and speaking proficiency, with the focus gradually moving towards semi-formal usage of Chinese language in topic-oriented discussions, as well as, be able to formulate more complex grammatical sentence structures and expand the vocabulary knowledge. Learners will also develop skills which they need to more profitably follow the study-unit CHN2102. Study-unit Aims: - To learn further commonly used Chinese Characters, the number of which will be determined by the lecturer; - To learn further words and phrases, the number of which will be determined by the lecturer; - To be able to handle successfully a number of uncomplicated conversational tasks; - To continue being acquainted with aspects of Chinese culture and society related to the course materials. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Recognize and write more Chinese characters; - Develop more vocabulary and frequently used phrases; - Understand more Chinese etiquette and customs related to the course content. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Make a close reading of texts; - Develop a greater attention to detail; - Learn to dialogue better; - Appreciate better other cultures.
