DESCRIPTION | The Intermedia Studio 2 study-unit will consist of drawing and painting the human figure. It focuses on rendering the human figure from live models in a variety of drawing and painting media. Students explore ways of seeing the human figure as a unique object of expression. The study-unit explores various creative processes which will broaden the students’ dexterity and rendering abilities in a variety of artistic tools. This study-unit provides the required foundation for later work in illustration and art for games. The study-unit will include: observation and measurement skills, perspective, foreshortening and drawing and painting in the life-class. Study-unit Aims: - Lay the foundations of human figure drawing; - Give students the required skills and confidence in the complexities of rendering the human form; - Foster a culture of critical, self-reflection and peer evaluation. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will: - be familiar with the human figure; - be familiar with fundamentals of foreshortening and foster visual perception and measurement skills. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will: - be skilful in the use of drawing and painting tools; - be conversant with the human anatomy; - be able to apply foreshortening techniques; - be able to initiate critical, self-evaluation.
