DESCRIPTION The study-unit will mainly focus on the artist as manager. It will look at the launching of an artist’s career, management contracts, development of an artist’s career path, finance, marketing and sustaining an artist’s career. The unit will take the local scenario as basic platform but will look at cases from a European and International dimension.

Study-unit Aims:

- To develop the management aspect of an artist/designer’s career;
- To highlight the importance of and devise the development strategy of a career path;
- To furnish fundamental information on self-marketing.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will:
- Become familiar with self-management strategies;
- Become familiar with successful business strategies.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will:
- Be able to self-market his/her product;
- Get to know of the business aspects of his/her career;
- Become conversant with sustaining strategies for his/her career.
