Study-Unit Description

CODE FDT3161

TITLE Christian Anthropology: Eschatology

UM LEVEL 03 - Years 2, 3, 4 in Modular Undergraduate Course

MQF LEVEL 6

ECTS CREDITS 2

DEPARTMENT Fundamental and Dogmatic Theology, including Ecumenism

DESCRIPTION This unit examines man’s eschatological fulfillment as member of the pilgrim People of God. Theological reflection on Christian hope sheds light on the discussion on matters of life and death and what happens after death. The following articles of the Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed are examined: "He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end", "I believe in the resurrection of the body", and "I believe in life everlasting".

Learning Objectives:

Students are expected to grasp the theological truth that the eschatological consummation consists in the fullness of the plan of God and the fullness of man. God's plan for man and the cosmos — which plan finds in creation its genesis, and in Christ its culmen and fullest meaning — is moving towards its fulfilment.
