| DESCRIPTION | Dans cette épreuve écrite on se limite à des problèmes de l’énoncé (perspective structuraliste) et marginalement à ceux de l’énonciation, tout en contrastant les deux perspectives à des études traditionnelles, voire logiques de la langue. Les questions posées requièrent des réponses où prévaut, comme dans le cursus spécialisation, une connaissance des savoir et savoir-faire des étudiants. In the written component, the examiners limit their questions to the utterance of the French language (structural perspective) and marginally to pragmatics and discourse analysis, thus contrasting both perspectives to the traditional one, even to the analysis of logics in the language. The questions set for the written exam expect the BA (Gen.) students to give answers which show a knowledge of both their savoir and the savoir-faire. Learning Outcomes: - The student will learn to consider linguistics as a continuum without splitting it into different components; - The student will acquire skills in French phonetics, in general linguistics, and in the different types of modern grammar which all shun the traditional approach in language analysis; - The student will be able to answer questions which deal in a holistic way on the science of the French language; - The student will be able to view a language as scientific tool which enables him to solve any problem pertaining to one or more of its components. |

| ADDITIONAL NOTES | Outre l’épreuve écrite, ce groupe d’u.v. comporte un examen oral qui la complétera où sont testées les aptitudes de l’étudiant qui soutiendra devant un jury d’examinateurs le contenu écrit de l’épreuve. Besides the written component, this group of study-units is made up of an oral component which is complmentary to the former. The latter is supposed to test the students’ skills in answering questions pertaining to the written component. A board of examiners will be the examining body. Pre-requisite Qualification: L’étudiant, afin de se conformer aux règlements du cursus, est censé avoir suivi toutes les unités d’enseignement au programme sans les avoir obtenues dans leur totalité. Le rattrapage des u.v. manquantes peut se faire suite à l’examen de fin d’études. In order to comply with the course regulations, the student is supposed to have followed all the study-units in the programme of studies without being obliged to get through all of them. The missing units can be obtained after having sat for the final exam. |
