DESCRIPTION This study-unit consolidates the basic business German skills and prepares the student to deal with the day to day running situations and possible issues arising while working with a German company locally or abroad.

Topics such as company organisation and structure, company administration, sales and marketing, import and export, money and banking are dealt with in the target language.

Study-unit Aims:

This unit aims to provide students with an opportunity to further his/her business German language skills and be better able to deal with customers and colleagues effectively in the target language. The student will be able to do this both verbally and in writing.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- have a better understanding of the German terminology used in the business sector;
- understand discussions, reports and business correspondence.

2. Skills
By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

- discuss business situations with German speaking colleagues;
- read and understand correspondence, reports, orders, complaints and simple contracts in German;
- report in brief, write business e-mails and place orders.
