DESCRIPTION This study unit shall focus on the various theoretical and practical concepts of developing and maintain positive professional relationships with other professionals and service-users. It shall delve into the challenges that are faced by professionals with regards to confidentiality and conflicts of interest with their patients and their families. The unit shall also tackle the correct procedures to be implemented when handling various medical conditions and the management of the provision requirements in the health and social care setting.

Study-Unit Aims:
The unit will continue to further develop the knowledge, skills and competencies acquired in the study unit on the advanced applied practical skills for health and social care. It will further highlight the importance of maintaining professional practice in order to perform duties that maintain high standards in the field. The learners will also understand the importance of ethical standards when dealing with patients and their families.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- explain care processes of the physical conditions of service-users;
- differentiate between the various theoretical concepts of developing and maintaining positive professional relationships with service-users and other professionals;
- recognize the challenges when seeking to maintain professional confidentiality and dealing with conflicts of interest;
- classify the stages and processes for infection prevention and control.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- work with the respective professional when conducting health and social care procedures;
- apply the correct procedures when handling various medical conditions;
- implement the various stages of processes of providing professional care when working with different health and social care professionals;
- manage the provision requirements of health and social care setting.
