DESCRIPTION This study-unit constitutes the dissertation requirement of the programme in Digital Games. It is split in two components namely the project/dissertation itself and a presentation of same project/dissertation. Students must concurrently complete and pass in both components.

Students focus their effort on a specific problem within the Digital Games domain and conduct an academic research investigation.

Study-unit Aims:

This study-unit aims to teach students how to:
- Identify an appropriate problem;
- Plan a research investigation;
- Execute a research investigation/project;
- Report findings in a communicative manner.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Assess the outcomes required by different types of questions;
- Identify the appropriate research process answering a given specific question; and
- Execute a systematic investigation.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Undertake a research investigation;
- Bring to fruition a project having certain objective within an agreed timeframe using available resources.

ADDITIONAL NOTES **September Assessment Session: Students who fail to obtain an overall pass mark will be re-examined in the Dissertation. However, the resit availability for the Oral Examination and Symposium is at the discretion of the Board of Examiners.
