DESCRIPTION | Study-unit Outline: - The Insurance Market - Main insurance principles - Classes of insurance - Underlying principles of insurance contracts - Claims handling - Regulation of Insurance Business - Focus on certain policies - The placement of insurance Students are expected to supplement the lecture notes with their own research and reading. Rationale & Learning Objectives: The insurance study-unit deals with insurance mainly from a practical and industry perspective, as well as from a legal point of view. It is intended that after completion of the study-unit the student will have gained an insight into the insurance market, the main players therein and of the standard insurance policies commonly in use.
