DESCRIPTION Study-unit objective:

The objective of this study-unit is to enable students to understand the workings of the market and how costs, revenues and profits, involved in Lace Making, are calculated. The course also deals with macroeconomic aspects intended to enable students to assess the contribution of Lace Making to the Gozitan and Maltese economy.

- The cost of lace materials
- The cost of hired inputs
- Calculating imputed costs of labour, capital and land
- Allowing for depreciation on tools and equipment
- Calculating profit from Lace Making

- Factors affecting investment in lace making
- The contribution of Lace Making to the economy
- Imports and exports of lace products
- The multiplier effects of Lace Making
