DESCRIPTION Rationale & Learning Objectives

To give students an understanding of the critical issues involved in managing organisations and to provide them with the necessary tools to confront these challenges.

Indicative Syllabus & Course Outline

Students will acquire insights into the functioning of effective organisations. They will appreciate why management must be understood within the context of organis ations and become familiar with the complexity and inter-relationships of real managerial situations. The module will present research and experience as valuable knowledge for the accomplishment of traditional management tasks. Three main areas are covered in detail in this module: (a) Diversity, ethics and social Responsibility, (b) The Organisational context - the external environment, organizational culture, diversity and global marketplace, (c) Planning and decision-making.
