DESCRIPTION | The study-unit is aimed at giving students a thorough exposure to the main local environmental issues related to biodiversity. The issues will be treated from various perspectives (i.e. natural, social, economic, cultural, political, technological, and aesthetic). The issues presented will be coupled with field observations. Although the local arena is the main focus of the unit, opportunities will be provided to help students frame the local issue within a global perspective. Themes that will be explored include: Terrestrial natural and managed ecosystems. Biodiversity related issues and nature conservation. Native and endemic flora and fauna. Agriculture and forestry and their impact on the environment. Reading List An updated reading list will be provided at the start of the study-unit. |
