DESCRIPTION This study-unit teaches the student how to play a keyboard (piano) instrument, which is an essential requisite for any student following a music course. It enables the student to play graded pieces from the basic keyboard repertoire, and to work out harmony exercises at the keyboard. Technical exercises (such as scales and arpeggios), keyboard studies (such as Beyer and Bartok’s Mikrokosmos), and additional standard keyboard literature (such as graded works by Bach, Clementi, Haydn and Mozart), will be treated. Attention will be given to the General Disposition of the student (position, posture, rhythm, applied technique, etc), as well as aptitude and interpretation. The Intermediate Keyboard Proficiency 1 is the ideal study-unit for students who wish to further their musicianship skills in a wholesome way. This is a follow-up study-unit to MSP2101.
