DESCRIPTION | The study-unit 'Advanced Editing' aims to give students the necessary technique to solve problems of reanissance notation. The study-unit addresses Renaissance musical theory and problems arising in the music of the period. The unit also plays an emphasis on the theoretical treatises of the time. Study-unit Aims: The study-unit aims at presenting renaissance notation in a historical perspective to determine points of similarities and dissimilarities between the different schools of notation. Learning Outcomes: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: a) solve advanced problems of Renaissance musical theory and its notation in their editing and research projects. b) transcribe excerpts of such notation c) offer practical solutions to the editing of Renaissance vocal music.
