DESCRIPTION | The placement includes 40 logged placement hours of sports related work with a sports organisation or in event management that will serve as an initial contact in the sports industry. During this placement, participants are encouraged to shadow someone who is experienced, before actually engaging themselves in hands on experience. Study-unit Aims: This sport placement will enable students to develop skills and knowledge while experiencing first-hand life in a sport organisation. This experience is an important way to improve student employability and to begin a career in the field of sport and physical activity. Learning Outcomes: 1.Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Put theory into practice in a sport or physical activity work environment; - Demonstrate knowledge of the procedures, practices, processes and disciplines of working within a sports and physical activity related organisation. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Communicate effectively with participants, colleagues and employers on technical and professional matters; - Develop coaching skills and philosophy which are vital in the art and science of coaching; - Plan, record and reflectively evaluate his/her sport and physical activity related work; - Take initiative and manage his/her own time and prioritise workloads. |
