| DESCRIPTION | This study-unit seeks to assist students in the final year of the S.Th.B. course in their quest to reach a comprehensive and integrated approach to Scripture studies. Students are to be able to examine and present coherently the major issues in Scripture studies. The inter-relationship existing among the various spheres of Biblical theology is highlighted, especially through insightful reading of exegetical and theological texts. Study-unit Aims: This study-unit aims to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the major themes present in the different parts of the Bible, and of the interrelationship between them. Learning Outcomes: 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Possess a measure of understanding of Sacred Scripture as God’s revelation throughout the history of the Jewish people in the Old Testament right up to the culmination of revelation in Jesus Christ; - Investigate the interplay between faith, reason and revelation in the light of Scriptures; - Communicate and adapt the Christian message according to the context based on God's Word in the Bible; - Communicate theologically-based responses on the Bible and the Teachings of the Church; - Respond to basic queries related to faith and belief according to Scripture; - Examine and question one’s own spiritual life in the light of Scripture; - Reflect theologically on the Bible; - Possess a measure of insight in matters of faith based on God's revelation in the Bible. 2. Skills: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - Elaborate at length on the themes of God and Revelation, Christology and Theological Anthropology, the Sacraments and Ecclesiology through the Biblical data; - Critically analyze different views concerning Biblical issues; - Demonstrate ability at synthesis in the field of Biblical theology; - Communicate theologically-based responses on the Bible.
